Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program $40 Produce Bundle

Additional funding available for low income Seniors to purchase Fresh Local Produce

Brooksville, FL (November 8, 2019) – The Florida Department of Elder Affairs is introducing the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Produce Bundle to Hernando County Seniors who meet income eligibility requirement for food assistance this USDA program. Maximum income limits can be found at ww.

SFMNP is a food assistance program that provides a one-time benefit to low income Seniors (60+) to increase their access to fresh Florida produce. The program was introduced to Hernando County in the spring of 2019 as a voucher system in partnership with The Enrichment Centers. A “$40 Produce Bundle” is available to low income Seniors who were unable to participate in the spring voucher program.

The Hernando County Growers Association will be assisting The Enrichment Centers in offering this opportunity to low income Seniors who are Hernando County residents. Local farms will be on hand at Bud McKethan Park on Tuesday, November 19th and Wednesday, November 20th from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Hernando County Mining Association Enrichment Center, 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601, and Wednesday, November 26th from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Bayfront Health Brooksville, Medical Arts Building, 17222 Hospital Blvd, Brooksville, Florida, 34601.

Public transportation is available via The Bus. For the Brooksville Mining Association Enrichment Center, use, purple route, stop PS-70 (in front of Wendy’s and just south of the park on the same side of Broad Street). For the Bayfront Health (Brooksville Hospital), use, purple route, stop PS-250 (Medical Park Lane).

The Enrichment Centers is a non-profit program serving adults in our community for 26 years. The Enrichment Centers are dedicated to helping people live a healthier, more fulfilling life. With health education, social and leisure activities, support groups and more, they are a resource for healthy, active living.

The Hernando County Growers Association (HCGA) is a non-profit agriculture cooperative of local farms and agriculture producers and operates the Brooksville Farmers Market every Sunday at 615 Old Hospital Drive, Brooksville, FL 34601 from 9:00 A.M. till 3:00 P.M.

The Brooksville Farmers Market offers fresh local produce from growers throughout central Florida and hosts the Feeding Florida “Fresh Access Bucks” program which matches SNAP dollars up $40 per market day.
